The Alps | Visualisation on Mountain Sustainability

The Alps is a project that presents data visualisations about the highest and most extensive mountain range system in Europe. Laid out in a total of five A2 and one A1 posters, the visualisations first introduce the expanse of the Alps before moving towards the topic of mountain sustainability, primarily on the retreat of glaciers. The extent of concern is supported by two case studies – Grosser Aletsch and Trift (Gadmen) – before ending the story with an illustrated visualisation of the consequences of continued glacier melt.

This project aims to highlight global warming as a major issue that has brought about various concerns regarding the health of the Alps. By presenting facts and breaking them down to simple visualisations, I hope the audience can be conscious that the minor contributions that we unknowingly make towards global warming can, in fact, bring about huge damage to our lovely environment.
