Brief
Experiment with drawing approaches and techniques in order to broaden the experience and to understand visual language. Use materials and media which are specific to art, craft and design, as well as unusual materials and media which may extend visual language and creativity.

Rationale
I was inspired by the works of Sri Lankan artist Chandraguptha Thenuwara. He is famous for his theory of “Barrelism”. He is more of an anti-war artist but he always communicated his messages through his works of art and sculptures in a very subtle manner. War and other social issues have been Thenuwara’s commonly used topics. The task was to get inspirations from an artist and to communicate a message which is unique. My concept was to convey a message to the society, to not forget the injured soldiers who are still alive. These brave men/women have sacrificed many things on behalf of their motherland. I felt that it is my duty to make some kind of awareness about them. I represented myself as an injured soldier. The black and white camouflage background which I created depicts that the war is over. The injured soldier in colour represents all the injured soldiers who are alive who are still battling it out with their own lives daily. Sometimes they have been ignored by the society due to their disablement.
