Project 5: Primitive Hut

Project 5 was based in Tavistock. The aim of the project was to design a temporary structure for 1 of 3 sites, carrying on from Project 4. This structure had to have 2 of these three components: deck, screen and canopy.
I made a series of models to show screen, canopy and deck. The one above is representing screen. This helps to show the different shapes of which it can be done.
This is a scale 1:200 models of my chosen (Tavistock Wharf) site. In the site i have placed a design idea. This is the first design i started to explore. I placed this further down the canal site, in order for the people in the structure to be distanced from the ugly road side. In this model I am focusing on decking and canopy.
I have later updated my idea to be this. This model has been done in order to compliment and represent a canal boat. The white in the photo represents either side of the canal. There is a walk path the side of which I want to be the viewed side of the canal.
After more thought. I realised that this design still let there be visibility of the road, which is not what i wanted. I thought that changing it from a deck and canopy design, to be a deck and screen design, will let the road be ignored.
This is my final design. It is aimed to be sat above the canal on the Tavistock Wharf site. It is a seating area that people can go to, to get a rest from the busy town centre on a market day. It is aimed in a way that people can view down the rest of the canal and still be able to see the historic wharf building.
