The growth and development of Mumbai has majorly been affected due to its migrants. It’s population growth rate is 2.5 times that of the whole country and has been increasing continuously over the past decade. Increasing migration and lack of available space has led to a decrease of 26.4 % in the average size of an apartment in Mumbai since 2010. Young migrants are opting for smaller flats in exchange of greater financial freedom and hence studio apartments are at a rise, becoming the logical choice of those who can’t afford larger apartments.
