Paving the Way for Design Infographic

Inspired by New York's finest Designers, this infographic was created to showcase them in all of their glory. This infographic was created for the Design Research class at Full Sail University. With Paul Rand being the designer's choice, we were given the task of comparing him to four other designers, so why not include some of New York's best? The decision was made to go with a specific style of Rand's that he used to create some ads for Forum Magazine, because of the fun, yet clean geometric style. Because of this it was important to keep the reflective color scheme, textures, font, and shapes in mind.
While Rand was working as an Art Director at William H. Weintraub Advertising Agency, he created a set of advertisements for The Architectural Forum, a magazine that covered the homebuilding industry and architecture. That specific style of Rand's was utilized to create this infographic with the intention of bringing some of his lesser known works to light.
The bold contrasting colors and worn textures of his works were entirely considered during the creation process, making sure that the style was on brand. The context behind this infographic was to provide insight on famous designers in New York by comparing and contrasting them, while also supplying a little back story.
Originally during the first week of this project we were only comparing 3 designers, but as this grew, so did the design so as to be able to properly reflect all of the designers in an effective way. Each designers preferred medium of use was added along with a timeline. Seeing that it would be difficult to make a Venn diagram between 5 people it was best to keep them in separate blocks.
