Surrounding ourselves with nature and its stunning complexity, I took the challenge in this work to contrast shape, line, and texture. Having the succulent plant, Chicks and Hens, with all its layers and points connected to the smooth simplicity of the egg celebrates a dynamic tension of form.
As a challenge to myself, I captured a lifelike quality in the plant and egg though a variety of line and texture over top a coloured and waxy background. It felt essential to me to think about the reaction I wanted to draw from the audience. Astonishment, and a sense of delight.
