Typographic poster project

The aim of this project was to create a poster about a famous person, living or dead. Type and type forms had to be the dominant feature on the poster and it had to advertise a specific fictitious event.

I chose Jack Nicholson, specifically using his role in The Shining.

The first poster is simply a typographic depiction of the most famous and iconic image from the film. I mainly used the words 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' which features in the film. I decided to make the teeth from the words 'Here's Johnny!' as that is what he is shouting at the time.

The second poster uses the carpet from The Shining overlaid with text. I chose the carpet because I love the geometric forms in it and I think it is an amazing pattern. The words used are 'Come play with us Danny'.

Both posters are advertising a film screening at the Duke of York's Picturehouse.
