Rajguru Memorial at Rajgurunagar


1.RAJGURU WADA - The Rajguru Wada is around 300 years old and has a historical significance due to its owner Shivram Hari Rajguru. Shivram Hari Rajguru was born on 24.08.1908 in Rajguru Wada at Khed near Pune. The village Khed is now renamed as Rajgurunagar. This Wada was given to, Kaveshwar Vidhweshwar Brahme (Rajguru) by Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaja’s son Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaja. Kaveshwar Swami lived in this Wada, and hence the name, Rajguru Wada. Considering the historical importance of this Wada, it has been recognized as state heritage monument by the Archaeology Department.

3.Rajguru Smarak, Khed is protected under State Archaeology Protected Monuments, Sr. No. 216, Ityadi Smarake Pune District, Grade B out of 239 monuments. The Janmasthan area was repaired by Dept. of Archeology and for the conservation of Thorla Wada, Kimaya Architects Urban Designers Conservationists Valuers Interior Designers were appointed. The Wada was in a dilapidated state and most of the part had collapsed.
A photograph of the Martyr who was hanged with Bhagatsingh and Sukhdeo is set in the niche which is the final destination in the complex.

The lady in the saree being the daughter of the late revolutionary Batukeshwar Dutt is flanked by the architects and a descendant of the Rajguru family and on the left by officers from the Department of Archaeology and the members of the Rajguru Smarak Samiti.
Large portraitsof the Martyrs and the  Tricolour are at the lower end of the premises that is yet to be fully acquired and developed.
The eastern entrance that leads to the river is truly monumental and in need of conservation.
Brief histories of the each of the martyrs and other incidents were put up for creating the atmosphere on the occasion
