Mississippi is a state with a troubled past. History can be recounted very differently, depending on who you ask.

 

Gloster has a population of 960 people. It is located in the southwest corner of the state and was named after the Confederate Captain Gloster. Not a soul in town can tell you who Captain Gloster was, but the town bears his name just the same.

 

I was born in Gloster, but as well as I thought I knew the town, and its people, I found out I did not. Perhaps my perspectives have changed over time. My personal politics have changed, the country is constantly changing, yet Mississippi seems to sit still.
