Residence Hall design for SUNY Binghamton - 2

This is the second phase of a 9 building complex of residence halls and collegiate center/dining hall I helped design in collaboration with Burt Hill architects (now Stantec). The Dickinson complex (buildings 5-8), shown here, accommodates 1496 beds, at a total floor area of 596,184 square feet.
The first image shown here dates from the same time period that the "village" theme that was explored in the Newing complex.
The design eventually followed that of the Newing complex - the large masses were broken up with banding and a variety of "feature elements" - unique from Newing to help differentiate the two complexes.  Also, the design team softened the "Z" form of the building plans (compared to Newing) to help "surround" a larger central activity space and maximize the forest views beyond.
The last two images (above) were developed over a Revit model, showing the final design of the complex.

Here's a recent photo (circa summer 2012) of the buildings under construction.
