To renovate a beach house for a couple to spend their weekends and a few months during the summer season away from their New York urban lives.

 

The husband is a chef and owner of a restaurant who also teaches private cooking classes. A teaching kitchen studio was designed to accommodate his cooking classes. The wife is a lawyer working to make partner at her firm. As she is accustomed to working long hours, this beach house serves as a place she can relax and be pampered. In addition to a luxurious master bathroom that features a free standing tub and a view of their private beach, there is a sauna room for her to continue her spa experience. The guest room also doubles as a space for at-home massages.

 

Contrast was the overarching theme in the design, mimicing the differences in the careers of the couple. Various types of materials were chosen to reflect their difference yet still create a complete and cohesive design.
