John Whitaker's profile

Mi Tierra Neighborhood Development

Mi Tierra was a pro-bono project for a low-income housing non-profit in Oklahoma City. Four different versions of a home were designed with varying numbers of bedrooms to fit different family types. The homes were planned to be economical, flexible for growing families, and meet LEED For Homes standards. Through this project, I became familiar with standards and process of LEED for residential design.

I have an interest in the architect’s response to affordable housing and pushed for our firm to take this project on. I contributed to the design, produced the drawings, and assisted the owner in the LEED for homes process.

Project completed with Fitzsimmons Architects
