Description of project brief: How to get a current high school generation to remember the events of a 100 years ago? This was my aim. My objective was that it would relate to a project I had created about a year earlier, First World War Centenary, but this time it would go much further and follow a fictional characters story from 1914-18 who was not much older or even younger than the viewer themselves. In my earlier attempt at trying to remember World War 1 I’d looked from the soldier’s point of view, this time I wanted to try put the viewer in their shoes. But instead of letters home, how would they communicate their stories if the events had taken place today, with modern technologies I imagine it would be through Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat etc. Using the same letters and information from events 100 years ago, but trying to relate them to a world in which perhaps people of the 21st century are in danger of forgetting. Even the shape and size of the pages were made to the same measurements of an Ipad, with glossy paper to represent the bright reflective screen.
