Identity for DIR EN GREY
I was asked to create a new identity for a Japanese band called DIR EN GREY.
Personally I'm a huge fan of the band for many years and I consider myself to be emotionally invested. Since I'm so invested, I thought I'd chose Self Expression as a way of art form.
I tried to design how I felt, while listening to the music. I started sketching, doodling & drawing.
This usually evolves into making a mock-up in Photoshop, but this time I decided to go all-out.
I grabbed a lot of paper and some paint, went out to my backyard where I blasted the music out loud and 'got dirty'.

No matter what I created, I could see some form of beauty in it. I decided to photograph the designs to use in my digital designs.
