Rebranding Proposal for the City of Edinburgh

Edinburgh, a capital city of Scotland, is located on the country’s coast. The city is worth praising because of the way it has beautifully conserved historical architectures that have been inherited over the long history across the city. All the classical architectures form a breathtaking landscape and unparalleled atmosphere that cannot be found elsewhere in the world. In addition to the beautiful cityscape, what Edinburgh is famous for is a series of festivals, such as Edinburgh International Festival, Military Tattoo, and Fringe Festival. Altogether, Edinburgh represents flourishing Scottish culture in many ways.

In terms of tourism, various and profound tourist attractions as well as internationally famous annual events are able to make Edinburgh the second most popular tourist destination in the UK after London, inviting over one million international visitors each year. Despite the popularity of the city, there is a lack of well branded image that represents Edinburgh, which would attract more tourists eventually. The goal of this branding for Edinburgh is building a robust and compelling reflection that emblematizes the city in a way that can juxtapose the rich past and the lively present harmoniously just like the city. While the outcome is expected to entice tourists, it should be a solid representation of people living in Edinburgh as well as Scotland because they have high pride of their city, country and culture. Since the city has been becoming culturally more lively and vibrant than ever before, the new identity should catch the way in which city attempts to revamp itself to attract tourists.
