Standard Hotel Shop
New York City, New York, 2010
Design for a 500 sq.ft. retail space below the Highline adjacent to the Standard Hotel. The goal was to create a space that felt “unearthed”, layered and with a historic past, in a new construction storefront space. The architecture of the hotel is inspired by 1960’s Latin American architecture, but completely contemporary. Inspiration for the store design came from European design details of that era, as if Gio Ponti had designed a tobacco shop in 1960’s Mexico City.
