Breiðamerkurjökull is a glacial tongue of Vatnajökull in the South East of Iceland. It ends in an iceberg filled lagoon known as Jökulsárlón. It was coming to the end of the ice cave season in March - any later and the caves become unsafe to enter due to the amount of melting that occurs.
