Kiwi is a leading brand that produces classic shoe polish for leather shoes, since 1906. And it has been a trusted personal care brand in Sri Lankan households, for decades. The expansion of their product line introduced a new portfolio of shoe care products, as successors to their already popular classic black/brown leather polish. Hayley’s Consumer Products Ltd., the authorised distributor of Kiwi products in Sri Lanka, approached us with the task to develop a campaign to refresh their audience’s memory about this esteemed brand and its products.

Given the decade-long popularity amongst the masses, we took a stroll down memory lane to find an insight, an element to help with this exercise. This influenced, not only the strategy/concept, but the final execution as well.

The Insight - In Sri Lankan culture, the father is highlighted more as the person who teaches kids to tie their shoe laces and everything else related to shoe care. In the case of Kiwi, the classic black/brown leather polish shares this same position in their product line.

The Execution - Back in the day, the style of capturing family portraits in a studio was almost always antique. The head of the house would be seated in an ornate chair, while the rest of the family stands close behind, propped with an illustrated backdrop. We used this as inspiration and switched the positions to introduce the new generation of shoe care products by Kiwi.
