Sunshine Design was commissioned to identify potential sites, develop conceptual design studies and subsequently prepare landscape and hardscape design plans for the selected location. The purpose was to create a unique outdoor gathering site primarily to cater to outdoor wedding ceremonies, as well as other club or member functions such as family reunions, seasonal membership social events and other similar functions.
The eventual site offered the unique opportunity to create an "outdoor room" surrounded by existing tree coverage and ornamental landscape material as well as heavily vegetated perimeter berm on the north of the site that eventually served as an ideal backdrop for the ceremony deck. This deck was raised 24-30" above natural grade with a gently curved hardscape wall and graceful 15' wide steps leading up to a wonderful natural boulder pondless water feature framed by a 20' wide rustic wood arbor.
A graceful 6' wide brick paver walkway served as the processional aisle bisecting the outdoor green room with beautifully groomed Bermuda turfgrass that provided attendee's seating for up to 300 guests. The project has been welcomed by club members, bridal parties and guest alike, and has been deemed a huge success.
