Arjun Residence is a sprawling single-story villa designed as a tranquil retreat for a family of four in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. Inspired by the Zen principles of simplicity and connection with nature, the residence embraces a minimalist approach to create a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Earthy tones and muted colors dominate the material palette, echoing the natural beauty of the surrounding environment. Robust materials were carefully selected for their durability and timeless aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the enduring spirit of Japanese design.
The heart of the residence lies in a central Japanese-inspired garden courtyard. This serene space fosters a sense of connection with nature, blurring the lines between interior and exterior living. Each living area, including bedrooms and common spaces, will strategically orient towards the courtyard, promoting a holistic experience. Locally sourced materials, natural ventilation strategies, and passive cooling techniques will be explored to minimize the environmental impact of the residence
