Nestled discreetly in the heart of East London lies Contrabando Records, a hidden gem among music aficionados. Far from atypical record store, it operates on a clandestine level, offering a curated selection of vinyl sourced from global travels and connections. Contrabando Records is also a community hub. Future plans include launching a record label, amplifying emerging talent and hosting intimate events, cementing their commitment to underground culture.
I spearheaded its branding, drawing inspiration from 90s underground culture. Influenced by UK rave flyers and 90s electronic vinyl, I infused a contemporary twist to maintain relevance. Utilizing irregular lines reminiscent of 90s illustrations, I crafted a gritty aesthetic.
At the owner's request, I incorporated a hooligan character into the logo, masked for intrigue. Handmade, illustrated typography adds a unique touch, seamlessly integrating the brand name into the logo while allowing for standalone use.
