Invisible Cities | Pyrrha

Each student was assigned a chapter from Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities. My chapter, the city of Pyrrha, centered around the narrator's preconceived image of the city in contrast with the real city once he saw it for the first time. Through strategic repetition alternating between solid black fill, white fill, and outlined type, each page created an almost hazy effect similar to a memory. In physical construction, the laser cutout type in the cover reveals the "real" story beneath the cover, while a smaller booklets on each side creates the two halves of the story, much like the two renditions of the city.
