Modern Art Exhibition Mailer
Requirements
This project involved designing a mailer for an "upcoming" art exhibit at a modern art gallery.  We were able to choose the artist and I chose Paula Scher.  The specific requirements for the project were:
1. A Front Cover which could possibly double as an advertising poster
2. A Back Cover
3. 5 inside double spreads
4. Artist Bio & Photo
5. A specific Inside & Back Cover
6. Photos of the artist work
7. Mockups of some of the artists photos in the exhibit
Process
I wanted the mailer to reflect Paula Scher's overall asthetic and her ideas about typography.  Because we needed to show the artist work in mockups in the exhibit, this is where I started.  I found photos that I felt reflected a modern art exhibit. I then photoshopped them to include Paula Scher's work and a hand graphic I created in Adobe Illustrator.
Once I had my images, I created the mailer to send to advertise the exhibit.  I kept the color palette bright.  I used geometric shapes to add interest as a backdrop to the hand graphic and both directed the eye to information in the mailer.
One of my favorite pages is the inside cover page with the quote, "It took me a few seconds to draw it, but it took me 34 years to learn how to draw it in a few seconds."
I'm a big fan of Paula Scher.  I hope this "exhibit" and mailer represents her well.
