Intuit Health Benefits Marketplace

Intuit's Healthcare Marketplace was an endeavor into the healthcare industry due to the fact of Obamacare requiring the majority of Americans to have some form of insurance. Our team was challenged with creating a platform for small business employees to sign up for insurance while also receiving contributions from their employers.

When I joined the team, we were in the process of revamping the UX based on feedback we had heard from the first open enrollment period. The minimum viable product was built for speed, not UX, to get into the market as fast as possible. My goal was to take the feedback from the V1 and build it into our V2 experience.

The biggest change from V1 to V2 was that I actually made the UX longer. Yes, longer. While many employers  were getting through the V1 experience quickly and efficiently, the majority of them were doing it completely wrong. After speaking with many employers, I found out that the topic of healthcare was something that was super confusing and most people needed more help and guidance. So the flow was broken down in to more digestible pieces with help along the way.

The employee side experience also need a revamp because we again didn't provide any help or support for them after they got invited to shop for insurance. So I designed the page you see above where the goal was to give users more context, support, and tools to make an informed decision on healthcare insurance. A cool tool that we could leverage was the fact that our product was plugged into Intuit Payroll, there we knew a lot of the information for that user already. So we could populate a truly personal calculator that would help the user see what healthcare would cost them.
