This is my first project for the BYU Idaho Online ART 230 Typography course. We took two classic fonts, Neue Haas Grotesque Bold & Stemple Garamond, and created abstract works of art. In a way it felt like we were painting with letters. I really enjoyed working on these compositions and had a hard time picking out my favorites.
For my sans serif composition I toyed with asymmetry and visual pacing to bring the eye down to the focal point "c". I wanted to keep the widths and angles even to create balance within the composition.
For the serif project I used scale to create movement and isolation to create a focal point. My personal favorite part of the project is the tail of the "Q" mimicking the curve of the lowercase "g".
