FAMILY TERRACES
“AFTER THE MINE?“
date of completion: June 2021  /  location: Hrastnik, Slovenia
Terraced houses are a part of the new residential neighbourhood project located on a plateau above the former mine in Hrastnik. They are located on the western edge of the site, on a bank sloping down towards the town. The terrain determines the volume to be split into levels with a half-story offset, with green terraces that have the role of an extension of nature. The elongated shape and terraced levels allow for good quality lighting and panoramic views. There is a total of 16 housing units, in three differing sizes.
Descending paths run between the houses, serving as their external link to each other and to the urban design of the neighbourhood as a whole.
