Mémoire Papier

The concept for creating this conceptual garment was to try to strike a balance between romantic and industrial aesthetics. The choice of material was based on paper, in this case sketch paper, tissue paper and paper naperon. The designers who served as inspiration for this project were designer Simone Rocha and the Heliot Emil brand.

Moodboard

The material chosen for this project was leftover tracing paper from architects, in order to recycle it and take a more sustainable approach to design. The moodboard represents the union of the two inspirations, romantic and industrial, together with possible manipulations of paper textiles, shapes and textures.

Fabric Manipulation

To obtain this organic texture of the paper, it is first crumpled as if we were going to make a pleat, then opened again and ironed to make it uniform and rigid. Scraps of cake paper were used to manipulate the lace texture. To create the flowers used to adorn the sleeves, tissue paper was used to achieve texture and volume.
To achieve this texture, everything was sealed with steam and interlining.
