ISCHIA MARKET REUSE

The project is about restoring an old abandoned market creating a new market and in adding new spaces for leisure and related activities open to the public.
The all structure is not demolished and after reinforcing is added on its top a photovoltaic roof that characterizes the all volume and provides energies for all users either in the interior space where is possible to charge personal computers, either outside where is possible to charge electric cars.
The new Ischia market hosts the production and the selling of local artisans so to support the local production either for tourists and for locals.
The new space is an “open-covered” urban plaza open 24 hours, accesible in all the periods of the year, where people can buy products and stay in lounge areas. at the ground level the market combined with the bar and tables create a space where people can eat together and rest.
From a structural point of view the existing roof and some interior walls are removed and is built a new horizontal slab to create the upper level and the existing brick walls are reinforced.
From an energetic point of view the project works thanks to the PV panels that over than providing energy also creates a shading system that guarantees a perfect climatic control.
The new market creates a relaxing space and a new sustainable enrgy icon for the city.
