New York - "Eyes Open"
- shot on Washi X film -
In the early days of our reunion, we dragged our tired feet through places that were supposed to be familiar. But everything had changed so much that our heads turned. We've all changed since all that time and hardship.
Nowhere else have I seen such a fusion of stone, metal and nature.
We've rediscovered the freedom of expression, the impertinence, the toughness, the daily struggles that are at the root of your existence.
As usual, the welcome made all the difference: raw, simple, logical. Never look for complication and risk stumbling: here the streets are straight, north, south, east, west, there are no diagonals.
About
For now let's enjoy analog shots of the wonderful New York city. This place is so crowded, harsh, and vibrant. I can't wait to come back. I loaded an excellent Washi X film (made in Brittany, France, by the small company Film Washi) into my no less excellent Minolta Dynax 5 and its 50mm lens. A perfect combination for a light stroll around New York and to capture on film the colors, architecture and inimitable diversity of this city at heart.
You can find more of my work on lennycartier.com. In a near future I'll be able to release prints of my work via a renowed photo laboratory.
