DIGITAL FABRICATION PROJECT

This wall installationdeveloped from the manipulation of a singleplane using calculatedforms to create spaces for display and storage.  The new form was then contoured to createthe horizontal slata. Using a layering of plywood, acrylic and plywood, LED tape is used to light the acrylic from the rear and is able to transmit through the acrylic and disperse across the shelve creating numerous lighting effects throughout the unit.  This technique could be scaled up to create an entire wall condition allowing for a great affect and rich user experence.  The shelving is spaced at different intervals to allow for many types of storage or display opportunities.  One example is the cutting away of the plywood to expose the acrylic through which the light is transmitting creating a glowing effect.
