Given the proven need for low income families in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver, British Columbia to obtain affordable, healthy food, Sprout Organic Community Garden will offer these families an opportunity to grow their own produce while fostering meaningful bonds within their communities.
Sprout fosters a place for healthy living and community engagement while growing local, organic produce to help members decrease their cost of food to maintain sustainable living and increase their amount of disposable income.
While community gardens can not sustain an entire city, they create a pathway to more frequent local buying. When placed in strong collaboration between government and businesses (public-private partnership) community gardens have the opportunity to prosper.
