It’s not the first image that comes to mind when you think ‘student accommodation’, is it? This is a great example of how Hayball designs to enrich human experiences. The building features a tower of overlapped precast panels, which rises from the retained facades of the historic Canada Hotel. Balcony locations alternate between floors, providing outdoor spaces for both studio and one-bedroom apartments and creating a captivating visual rhythm from the street.

Retail and hospitality tenancies activate the ground floor and streetfront, while the lecture theatre and shared common spaces located throughout the building bring people together. The site has excellent open spaces, public transport nearby and is within walking distance of the University of Melbourne, RMIT, Lygon Street, Swanston Street and the CBD.
