WĘGIEL® Film Festival is the outcome of a branding and advertisement project with the objective of promoting a student film festival held annually in Katowice, Poland.

The idea of the festival is to present the work of film students from all over the world to a wider audience, as well as to exchange creative experiences and integrate schools. The confrontation of film achievements is a good opportunity for students to observe the technique and craftsmanship of their colleagues.

WĘGIEL is often the first chance of young creators to be appreciated by a professional jury and a large audience. The identity consists of simple, bold shapes and colours, depicting the vibrant character of both the event and its hosting city.

The main theme of WĘGIEL connects two concepts: Spotlight and UFO. The latter is a reference to one of the iconic buildings of Katowice - Spodek (UFO). The dance of negative space was probably the most exciting part of this identity project.
