Infinity Mirror

Infinity Mirror

An infinity mirror is basically a mirror with a strip of LEDs inside that creates the illusion of an infinite amount of LEDs inside of it. I made this as a practical desk decoration. While it does look nice, it also serves as a mirror that can be used in the dark.

First, I laser cut 3 wood frames and glued them together. I then cut a hole at the bottom for the wires to come out. Afterwards, I lined the inside of the frame with an LED strip and connected it to an Arduino.

Inkscape file for frame:
I then laser cut two acrylic hexagons the size of the outer hexagon and put one-way mirror tint on one side of each acrylic hexagon. After that, I glued the acrylic hexagons to each side of the wooden frame with the sides with mirror tint on them facing each other. This caused the light from the LEDs to be trapped inside the frame, reflecting back and forth from the mirror tint, which created the infinite loop of reflections.
