A Massive Discovery

Nobel Laureate Double Sided Poster
Front
François Englert and Peter W. Higgs won the Nobel Prize for their contributions regarding the discovery of the Higgs Boson. The Higgs is responsible for giving all particles their mass, and has big implications in helping us understand they way our universe works.

I wanted do use a large dark shape in the center as the focus, in order to personify the Higgs mass-giving qualites. I wanted to use the ethereal space image as a background, to give it a little more color, contrast, and to connect it to the universe as a whole.
Back
On the back there is a timeline of their acheivements, as well as a quick blurb about each laureate. I wanted the focus to be on the timeline, so I only let the color show through on the one horizontal line going through under their pictures. This allowed me to bring the color from the front, to the back, without compromising the readability of the time line and the text. I also served to organize the back, and anchored the photos, so they wouldn't seem to be floating. I also added a subtle outer glow to the timeline. This was an attempt to make it resemble the side view of a spiral galaxy .
