A collection of characters I've designed based off people I've observed around town...
I observed a man who was wearing all black except for his shoes, which were bright green. I began to sketch some character mock ups based on this unique premise with the shoes being the statement piece. I landed on Nike Air Force 1 Low Off-White Volts. I then discovered a selection of photographs by Nestor Pool taken in NYC; the steam and foggy atmosphere I took for inspiration. Then when designing the character's cloth shapes and colors, I studied elodie.xia on Instagram.
I spotted this guy outside of a restaurant in ChinaTown Sydney. He was looking at his phone and seemed extremely depressed. Maybe he had just gotten an order on the other side of the city? I really liked his outfit though- it was all blue including his helmet. I wanted to give the character a bit of scrap paper for him to write the order down on. I asked my friends to give me a food order and they definitely had some ideas.
This guy here was on the opposite side of the street from the delivery man. He was wearing a full Nike set and was on what seemed to be a very important phone call. I was very intrigued by his character and wondered what he sounded like, his music taste and his profession. He seems like an MF Doom fan in my opinion.
