ELAF (إيلاف):
the name is derived from the Arabic verb (آلف). The meaning can also come from familiarity, meaning becoming familiar with the thing until loving it, in addition to the meaning of “safety”, “security” the key words to our project.

Time has come to fulfill: Habilitation, Healing, Safety and Sustainability to the home of the first man-built cities on the banks of the Euphrates in Southern Iraq. In through response to inhabitants' serious need of human rehabilitation Post-War Rehabilitation Concept has been reached.
ELAF presents an integrated study to the strategies of: Urban hybrid space, Biophilic Design and Post-War Rehabilitation.
Branched Urban Pattern planned the neighborhood morphology. Studying that pattern, where main routes branch into Minor arteries. We reached it was the fundamental circulation key to our routes.
We approached Biophilic Design concept (first seen in Hanging Gardens of Babylon), through Vertical Farming that supplies food deficiency, maintain the existing surrounding context (vegetation and wild-life) through shaping the buildings in order to adapt it achieving environmental recuperation.
The integration between the Branched Urban pattern and Biophilic Design resulted into Hybrid Urban space.
Post-War Rehabilitation composed of: Psychological Rehabilitation through healing principles achieved through inhabitants' gradual journey beginning with residential units decided at the entrance of the project to give them the serenity feeling of reaching shelter. Sequent by the array of 6 Ramp-linked buildings of communal activities for inhabitants' interaction with other and the buildings throughout created qualified self-productive individuals so we concluded with the workshops all in order to achieve Behavioral Rehabilitation until the journey comes to its end at our project landmark the ziggurat-shaped library, in which we located the vertical farming symbolizing the return of the legacy to the home of world's oldest known library.
