Forcing the Water

I was inducted into the style of Alessi with a La Conica by Aldo Rossi for my 21st birthday while a student of architecture. It travelled with me everywhere, to both Chicago and Berlin until the genie of the lamp sourced it for its use. It has been of great ponderance and Alessi has amassed the work of many architects learning to boil water and make expresso. While some of these architects are still living, they have addressed their design with a signature style made from salient elements that make their architecture. In a way fitting for the 21st century it seems pertinent to address the hybrid of this water condition; an element so precious to life that is put to the force of heat and consider the function of these design elements and in turn the identity of its maker. While this art may be fruitless we can ascertain the simplest of kettles has been imagined as a folded paper cube that utilises the action of water as a fire guard to the ignition of the paper. There are lessons to be understood here and perhaps the kettle can embrace the notion of the unrequited future.
