"Reach"

Preliminary dance sketch, with focus on balance, poise, and strength.

How often do we look at a dancer, especially in ballet, and describe them as appearing "graceful" and "light as a feather". These are definitely true. But what about the amount of work they put into conditioning just about every muscle in their body to make it all look so effortless?

I love how the light and shadow reveals and forms the human figure, hitting all the subtle cuts and shapes as though sculpted before our eyes.
