In collaboration with Done Lab, our project embarked on a pioneering exploration of additive manufacturing technologies in the realm of orthotics development. With a focus on addressing the prevalent issue of bunions, which significantly impacts the well-being and confidence of a substantial adult population, our endeavor sought to revolutionize non-surgical corrective measures. Bunions, often accompanied by discomfort and social stigma, necessitate effective solutions for realigning the big toe without resorting to invasive procedures. Our innovative response, OrtE.67, represents a breakthrough orthosis meticulously designed to precisely position and support the affected toe. This versatile product seamlessly integrates into daily life, offering a tailored solution for daytime wear within shoes and nighttime use. Leveraging the resilience of elastic bands and adaptable shape memory material, OrtE.67 enables gradual corrective adjustments, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality. Crafted with a focus on user well-being, the incorporation of soft, breathable rubber material prevents skin irritation, making OrtE.67 a compelling and comprehensive solution for individuals seeking effective bunion treatment.
