"WordPlay"
The Fred Rogers Company and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh
WordPlay is a literacy campaign in bus shelters to encourage parent/child interaction. Eye-catching visuals at a child’s level are coupled with artwork for the adult and a free phone number suggest prompts to start the dialog, offer interactive games and story-telling options. Parents who talk with their children in warm and responsive ways right from the start give their children a great gift. Communication is an important force in shaping toddlers’ minds, behavior, self-esteem, imagination, and approaches to learning. WordPlay will give parents and young children fun, eye-catching, and developmentally appropriate resources and activities to encourage verbal interaction.

I consulted with the client to determine the appropriate technology and game play. A Game Art and Design student wrote the script for the game and Graphic Design students designed the posters.
The game was so successful in it's original three-month showing that the client received a second grant to continue funding the program.
