Odle Middle School Environmental Education Signs

I was lead graphic designer for an interpretive program for the redesigned Odle Middle School. Sustainability shapes the new campus, so incorporating environmental education into a wetland restoration area fit with the school's environmental focus. The program, "My Green School / My Green Earth", helps students understand their school's role in ecosystem health, and includes four large (18"x24") interpretive panels, one small (12"x12") interpretive panel, and ten (9"x9") plant identification tags. Sign content is advanced for the STEM-focused school.

I developed a unique visual style for the signs, inspired by the clean lines of scandinavian illustration. In addition to design, I created illustrations and wrote and revised text.

The following signs are 95% complete. The project was completed while working at The Watershed Company.
Two maps orient students within their town and their watershed. "Catching Every Drop of Rain" explains the function and health of a watershed.
An interpretive sign explaining rain garden function -- in nitty gritty detail -- calls students' attention to the low-impact features on their campus.
Placed along a restored wetland buffer, this interpretive sign explains both wetland and buffer function.
Another interpretive sign in the wetland restoration area explains the adaptations of hydrophytic plants.
