Infinito
Exhibition Design at the Venice Biennale
At the end of 2018 I received a call to design an exhibition for the Art Biennale in Venice for the Cuban artist Carlos Quintana.
I received a folder full of photos of him and his work, and the request to design immediately an ad for an art magazine (Art Nexus) and later the graphic system for the exhibition to come.
For the ad, as there was no time and still no concept, I decided to show him at work. This also gave the chance to show the size of his artworks – quite big.
Later on I played with the idea of the "infinite, endless" and tried several concepts and graphic ideas for the big exhibition, from more graphic to more photographic, from minimalistic to chaotic and everything in between. Till I received another bulk of pictures, with the rabbit artwork in it. That was it: the eyes of the rabbit captured me. I've found the "infinito".
It took a bit of convincing work at the beginning to be allowed to use this predominantly bright pink/rosa image as main visual, but it was worthy. The public loved it. In the days after the inauguration one could find people all over Venice with the (pink) bag with the rabbit. The exhibition gained a lot of visibility in that ocean of exhibitions that is the Venice Biennale.

I worked on lots of different formats, from digital: Social Media posts, invitations and a Newsletter; to print: brochure, flyer, a press kit, a big 3m x 3m banner, VIP invitations, business cards, etc.
To contrast the bright rosa, I used a dark blue color, in some cases for the typography, in some others more predominant as background for white font, as is the case of the walls of the exhibition and also for the stands for the paintings.
