"KombinART", The Innovative Neighbourhood Revitalization in Kombinat, Albania
KombinART represents a visionary approach to transforming the Kombinat neighbourhood in Albania into a vibrant and modern district while preserving its historical character. Rather than resorting to extensive demolitions, our primary aim is to adapt and enhance the existing urban fabric. The neighbourhood's irregular layout, will be reimagined with the introduction of green spaces, dedicated cycle paths, and pedestrian walkways to enhance the quality of life for both residents and local businesses. The project includes the reconstruction of school buildings to provide better learning environments. New green areas and playgrounds will enrich the district, contributing to a more vibrant community. Our approach employs tactical urbanism to reimagine the cityscape and bring about positive change without excessive financial burden. Utilising innovative solutions such as creative painting and strategic spatial reconfiguration, we intend to revitalise public spaces, making them more functional and aesthetically pleasing. This approach encourages community involvement and leverages low-cost, temporary interventions to address neighbourhood-scale challenges, fostering a brighter
future for Kombinat.
