GAURI PRASAD's profile

Auroville ceramics

As a part of my graduation project, I had worked with Clay and Glaze, a homegrown brand from Pondicherry working with the aim of promoting handmade ceramic products around the country. The document records my journey through the time that I spent there.
The document provides insight into the company, its products, customers and their suppliers as well as the research and inspiration behind each of the product lines.
The document also shows the different stages and processes carried out my fellow intern and I as we finally created our final collections and products themselves.
The Collections
Terrene - Toiletry set
Embracing hand-made processes, craft and authenticity, giving accessories a sense of personality. Shapes are simple, rough and rounded character with a contrast of smooth and soft surface. Combine rounded forms with warm, matte and muted colors to create a sense of comfort, and take inspiration from organic and imperfect textures.
Reminiscence
It holds on to the essence of French culture which can be observed in the cafes, people, architecture and some of the specific colors like the sunburnt yellow, blue, peach, grey and white. Majestic and tall French doors adorn the exterior and interior of many buildings. The houses in the French Quarter are adorned with shuttered windows and in colorful façades that wouldn’t look out of place in Paris. The French Quarter or White Town area house many elegant colonial mansions in the midst of tree lined boulevards.
