Green energy, put simply, is electricity that comes from often-renewable sources that leaves no hazardous residue in the environment at the end of a human life-span. Put another way, green energy does not result in pollution (such as greenhouse gases). Not all renewable energy is green energy. For example, hydroelectric power, solar energy, and wind power are some common renewable energies that are also green. On the other hand, power generated from burning organic materials from forests (a renewable source) is an example of renewable energy that is not inherently green, since it releases CO2 into the atmosphere.
