NOVA-87 Bluetooth Speaker
NOVA-87 came from the reflection on interface design on electronics nowadays. Have we gone too far on the road pursuing conciseness? We have seen too much elegant yet hard to understand designs, products that without 10 minutes reading of instructions, no one can figure out how to use.
Different controllers act as dominant visual elements in the design, the two buttons are the first things that attract user's attention.
The angled shape and bright colored buttons gives the speaker a retro look that reminds people of arcade machines from the good old time.
I didn't use "pushing down" as the action to turn on/off and adjust volume. Instead, these controllers have mechanical structures that were popular decades ago. I like these old interactions, they have their own charm.
The main surface is divided into 3 parts, each with slightly different shades. The one with speaker unit in is the darkest, and has a extra texture applied.
