Postcards from Ukraine

In early 2022, I had many creative plans.
One of them was an art-trip to the cities of Ukraine with a sketch of their local features.

But the war began. Unceremoniously and vilely, russia has invaded into my country, terrorizing civilians and destroying our homes.
For a while, everything lost its meaning for me. The only thought was "just to survive".
Later on, I drew  but only to release the pain and hatred from my heart.

The series of 24 illustrations was created during March 2022 as a reaction to russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
I depicted places that were affected by russian aggression in the state they were "before." The illustrations were based on photographs from the list of destroyed cultural heritage sites in Ukraine and news reports.
The series of works is characterized by a vibrant color palette and a cheerful mood. It is my way of emphasizing the strong contrast that war has brought to our previously peaceful and colorful cities.
The images aim to preserve the memory of places that are now devastated by russian bombings.
