Four Harmonies

 

A harmony is a relationship. There are four harmonies dynamically interacting in the piece: musical harmony, the spacial harmony of the sound, visual harmony of the sculptural elements, and the relation of the sound and structure to the moving observer.  At the intersection of these structures, the harmony of harmonies, is where the observer is invited to experience the piece.  My work often finds an important relationship between the seen and unseen, sound and physical bodies, and their association.  In this piece these implicit musical “shapes” are made explicit by the physical structure from which they are emergent.
