Theme of Montreux Jazz Festival China 2022 annual poster competition: "Bridges"
I applied metaphors for “bridge”, which are not physical and interprets it as a connection between meanings. Nowadays, the symbol of the bridge as an object of communication seems to be the most important.
Music is a link between our minds and world. Rhythm starts to exist only when it reaches our ears. This poster is a synesthetic metaphor for the effect of sound.
The glide from one key to another is a musical path. Music is a crosswalk that connects us.
For this poster I used an image of synthesizer as an object of huge musical power and a crowd full of characters that are different yet united in the direction they follow.
Everything is jazz.
Jazz is us. Jazz is peace and love. Jazz is the connection between past and future. Jazz is an emotional spectrum that people share worldwide. People did jazz even before the definition of music was invented.
Did ancient people do jazz? Sure, they did.
As a visual metaphor for this poster, I made an image of petroglyphic person holding an instrument reminding a trumpet as a symbol of relation of time and timeless.
